Abstract

A study is presented on guidance needs in rural adult women who present situations of socio-labor exclusion. Professional guidance in a changing context implies the need to develop comprehensive programs that allow people to build and manage their professional project. Gender inequality in access to decent employment is mentioned, with emphasis on the difficulties faced by women, especially in rural environments, in connection with a low level of professional qualification and difficulties in conciliation. The CPC Model (Sánchez-García y Suárez-Ortega, 2018) is proposed as a response so that women can develop their life project and make authentic decisions in their career. The work focuses on studying the guidance needs of women in rural environments, to respond to them. A qualitative study was carried out from a phenomenological perspective, through autobiographical interviews applied to a sample of five adult rural women. All of this, with the purpose of knowing their needs for guidance for professional development, understanding them from the meaning they give to their lives. Needs for training and professional development, career self-management and decision making are identified, highlighting gender culture, support networks and resilience.  Through this study it has been possible to access the life stories of women in rural contexts and identify needs for guidance and development of resources that improve their personal, work, and professional situation. The CPC Model is an interesting proposal that could respond to the needs identified in this group of women. Qualitative methodology becomes an essential tool for women to become aware of their needs, and to optimally plan and manage their professional and life projects.
