Formação contínua de professores em mediação de conflitos: Motivações e avaliação

Abstract

The school is a space for socialization, which nowadays is confronted, more and more, with social and coexistence problems that condition the teaching and learning process. The teaching profession requires constant updating to better follow scientific and social developments and better contribute to the integral education of the student. In this context, continuous training in conflict mediation aims to promote knowledge and enhance socio-educational strategies that promote school coexistence. The general objective of this study is to understand the reasons for teachers to carry out ongoing training in conflict mediation and how they evaluate this training. Methodologically, it is a qualitative study, using semi-structured interviews for data collection and content analysis for data analysis. The results obtained show that teachers decide to carry out this training because the school has changed and due to the existence of disciplinary problems. They considered it important for updating knowledge and strategies, leading to better professional performance.
