Volume 21, Issue 2 of New Trends in Qualitative Research (NTQR) brings together a rich and diverse collection of articles that showcase the breadth and depth of contemporary qualitative inquiry. This issue includes both empirical studies and theoretical essays that span critical themes such as education, health, social justice, and innovative qualitative methodologies.

Highlighted articles explore gendered perspectives on university students' leisure time, informal violin teaching with traditional folk music from the Azores, and connectivist learning in South African technology-rich schools. The field of health is strongly represented with contributions on perinatal mental health counselling and lived experiences of individuals undergoing antiretroviral treatment.

Methodological reflection is a key feature of this issue, with discussions on constructivist grounded theory, qualitatively oriented mixed methods research, and dyadic methodologies. Internationalisation and rural distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic also receive focused attention.

The volume concludes with two thought-provoking essays: one documenting a student parliament experience in Chile and another exploring the transformative role of qualitative research in advancing social justice.
